JCC SELECTED TO HOST LOCAL NBA/WNBA FIT CHALLENGE

Rick Evans, Executive Director, and Bill Buzza, Recreation Director are proud to announce that our JCC has been selected to host a local NBA/WNBA Fit Challenge.  The competition is set for Sunday, November 8th at 12:30 pm in the Cohen Gym. Age groups consist of 8 & under, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14. Age is determined as of February 12, 2010.   Boys and girls compete separately.

The NBA FIT/WNBA FIT Challenge consists of a series of five (5) exercise stations: Line Sprints, Jump Rope, Defensive Shuffle, Wall Pass and Speed Revolution. Participants compete individually against the stopwatch and each participant is timed at each of the five (5) exercise stations for thirty (:30) seconds per station. The repetition of each exercise converts into a point value – participants are trying to earn as many points as possible in the thirty (:30) second time period.

Participants in each age and gender group from your local competition with the highest combined total score from each of the five (5) stations have the opportunity to advance to the Regional Competition (held between 11/15/2009 and 1/17/2010 - location TBD) and possibly the National Finals to be held at NBA All-Star 2010 in Dallas, Texas in February.

Cost of the program will be $5.  Any competitor wishing to sign up for the 2009-2010 Northampton St. Basketball League will have $5 credited to their registration fee.  For more information, please call Bill Buzza at 824-4646, ext. 232.
